Jessica Ann Hicks was a
three-year-old girl whose smile and bright blue eyes warmed the hearts of
those around her. She loved life and fought very hard and bravely to win
her battle against cancer. She loved music, "making stuff", Barney and
playing with her baby "buddy" (brother). Jessica was a very smart,
empathetic little girl who seemed to possess a knowledge and wisdom beyond her
years.
Jessica was
diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at 8 months old. The effects
that the CURE for her leukemia had on her body slowly and brutally took her
life away. It was and will forever be the most horrific experience we endure.
We watched, helplessly as our precious Jessica was being subjected to treatments
that traumatized her body. No parent should ever have to watch their child
suffer like this. It is an unimaginable experience. Jessica is now a precious
Angel who has the sky as her canvas to paint the beautiful colors she loved to
paint here on earth. We are eternally grateful for the 3 years, 1 month, 3
days that we had Jessica in our lives. She is forever our hero and we will
miss her deeply. There will be a hole in our family forever. It has been a
struggle to carry on without her - to live each day with the unimaginable pain
of not having her here. Jessica fought so bravely through all of the horror
that she endured for love. To live in a world where love and giving prevail.
She set an example of how to carry on in the in the face of pain…. to be
loving and kind in the face of pain…so in Jessica's honor …. we keep going in
the face of our pain. We have found a purposeful way to channel our energies
through the reaching out to others in memory of our precious Angel, Jessica
Ann Hicks. |
